Happy to be home

Hey all. A and I are back in Mpls after a wonderful visit to Milwaukee. While we went back and forth between Milwaukee (where my Ma lives and friends were staying) and Richfield (the land of my father and step mom) we both felt like this trip was especially amazing this year. Lots of family time, filled with good food, conversation and of course another Packer victory (including shots of tequila after every touchdown.)  Anyhow, while we had a blast, we were ready to get home.

One big reason for that...we got a lot of awesome kitchen related gifts that I was excited to use. My mom got us brand new Cuisinart stainless steel cookware, and my dad got us a food processor and a free trip to his giant meat locker cooler. Our freezer is now stocked with baby back ribs, pork loins, filet's, homemade sausage and so much more. Pretty amazing.

Last night I decided to use some of our new food, and cookware and made homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs. Below are some pics.

It turned out amazing. And holy cow, the pots/pans I used were nicer than anything I've used before. Seriously.

Just another reason to love biking...

My buddy Jon (we both have similar loves-bikes, packers, beer, and good music) recently posted some awesome videos on the FB that I felt like sharing. Both make me want to ride my bike more.  Enjoy!

This first one is a junkyard cross race (amazing)

This second one is just an amazing example of control on a downhill (in the rain and mud)

Happy Holiday, Y'all!

Class and Trash all in one night

This weekend we were invited to a Mad Men themed Holiday Party over at our friends house in South Minnie. Both A and I were very excited to get all dressed up, eat, drink and listen to some 60's goodness. And boy oh boy it was awesome. We had so much fun. Everyone looked so good.
Doesn't A look so good?!   Thanks again Keely and Eric. You sure know how to through a party!

Immediately following our Mad Men themed party, we had to un-hot ourselves and head to Lisa and Al's for a little Lisa Birthday celebration. This party was a "Trailer Park Boys" themed party. A and I have not seen the show, but we had fun finding weird stuff in our closets to dress the part. We also picked up our Georgia Peach on the way and the three of us had a blast.  Check out the below pic....although I feel like both A and I looked better at the Mad Men party :)
I hope you all have a chance to spend some time with loved ones, or at least people of your choice over the next week or so.  Happy Holidays!

Almost time for a road trip

Hey team. I finished up student teaching at Sanford Middle School last week and it was very bittersweet. More bitter for sure. Yes, I get to sleep in now and not turn in millions of pages of lesson plans, however I miss the shit out of the kids AND my cooperating teacher. I really had an amazing experience, and I can not WAIT to be back in the classroom. I really hope I will find a job in a middle school next year....
This is actually on the first day of grad school. Don't I look for fresh and excited?

Anyhow, now that it is the Friday before Thanksgiving break, I am trying to get a bunch of school work done. I only have class on Monday next week, so I am skipping out of town early to head to Milwaukee. A is going back to Detroit to visit family, and I have my 10 year class reunion next Friday, so we are splitting up for the holiday (we have never had a Thanksgiving apart :(  )  for the week/end. I want my trip to MKE to be somewhat relaxing, so I am doing lots of work now.
And when I do homework, I need music. So...here are some tunes I am enjoying as I write papers and reflect on teaching and whatnot. Enjoy!

I know, kinda random. just songs that I have played this morning that have made me feel good. Happy Friday! (that was Lykke Li, Daft Punk doing a Pretty Lights remix, Peggy Lee, and Jethro Tull)

Zing! Went the Strings....

of my heart!!! Last FridayI had the pleasure of seeing the show "Beyond the Rainbow: Garland at Carnegie Hall." So for my birthday, A got me tickets to this show (I'm a big fat Judy Garland lover, so this was a big deal) and let me tell you, The show was AWESOME! A, our friend Liz and myself all headed down to St Paul and saw this amazing show. The older Judy looked and sounded just like Judy. The young Judy looked and sounded just like Judy. And it was historically accurate, and amazing. I had such a great time. And as ridiculous as it is, I have no problem saying that I love me some Judy Anyhow, here are some pick.

And because I love you so much, here is a clip from A star is Born of my all time favorite Judy Song. Enjoy

Happy Sunday.

Long Overdue!

Hey hey...I've been meaning to put these up for a while now. A few weeks ago, when the Packers came to town, a friend of mine offered me a ticket with a group of 5 of our friends. I declined, because I'm in grad school and didnt think I should spend my money on a football game. But then a lot of people twisted my arm by telling me that I really needed to see the Pack live. So when I called my buddy back, the ticket was gone. I was very sad. So after about 20 minutes of kicking myself, I decided I was going to find someone to go with, and find my own tickets. So I called up APVDH, and he, too, said no at first. But then he called back and said yes. So I hit up craigslist, and found 2 tickets for a reasonable price. Al and I went to our buddy Jon Z's, to "tailgate" with our other friends going. Bloody's, breakfast, Chuck....we had it all. So below are some photos from the day. Enjoy!

I had such a good time at the game. I can't wait to go to Lambeau some day.

90's dance party TONIGHT!

Hey all. As I'm sure you've picked up on, Tonight is the big vintage pop-up shop, It's a Date. This is the 4th (really? wow, the year has flown by) It's a Date installment since its creation last winter. I'm very proud of my little Miss Salvaged Strawberry (and two birds, of course) for all the hard work they have put in. The shop has really come a long way and I have a feeling tonight is going to be a BIG success!
Again...here is the info: It's a Date!)
Anyhow, after all the fun is over, a whole group of us are heading up to the 331 for 90's Dance Party! X-files edition. I can not WAIT! We stumbled upon 90's dance party over the summer and I swear it was some of the most fun I've had in Minneapolis. All the jams we grew up listening to and more. The beauty (to me) is that I can get some Ace of Base, followed by Montel Jordan, followed by mj, and then maybe some old school pearl jam. Anyhow, they do a really good job with the event.  To get you all excited, here are some tunes to bring you back!

Well, there's a silly mix for you! Enjoy and I hope I see you tonight!!!

A day in my life...

Heyo. So I read this blog where a guy frequently does "a day in my life in 10 photos" and I was thinking that that might be fun. So today, I'm giving you a day in MY life in 10 photos. Enjoy!

Happy Almost Friday, friends. I hope to see you at It's a Date this weekend!

Sunday can be a Funday

As always, I had some homework to handle today But I made sure to make time for the Packers, and even a bike ride. It was more like a commute, but it was about 18 miles, so I feel good. Anyhow, it was windy as crazy, but I managed to stop and take some photos.
Handsome boy in his bow tie!

Happy Halloween!

Smiling despite fighting some major wind
